Fishbone diagram is a very effective tool in mapping the
inputs that effect quality. Is the Cause & Effect Diagram, &
know as the
Ishikawa Diagram. It is a useful technique for initiating
thinking in problem solving.
In the figure give below the problem being investigated is shown at the end of a horizontal arrow. (called a main arrow) Potential causes are shown as sub arrows (or small arrows) entering the main cause arrow. Each small/sub arrow may get other arrows entering it (sub-sub arrow) . Detailed brainstorming to be conducted to generate the causes, sub-causes and sub-sub causes and so on.
Fishbone diagram can be further enhanced by use of a tagging
system as below -
1. First prepare a fish bone diagram for problems faces in the
organization
2. Attach a solution tag to every problem
